June 9

Palmachim beach is beautiful! Tal drove us to the beach for a picnic and swim. The kids had fun jumping the waves, doing handstands and spending time together. I’m constantly amazed by the colors of the Mediterranean Sea. Sugary soft sand meets gentle hues of sea foam green and as if they are ombré move to sea green, aquamarine and bright blue. It is vastly different from the Atlantic Ocean where it looks blue on a nice day but mostly brown.

The water temperature is similar to Amelia Island on a hot summer day. Cool and refreshing but not cold. Enough of a chill to feel refreshing.

After returning from the beach Tal took us to Golda for Bagel ice cream. We expected it to be gross, it was quite good. Then I learned bagel in Hebrew means pretzel. It made much more sense.

Our day concluded with Mark driving us to Tel Aviv where my dad met us. We went to dinner and my dad got to taste Golda on the way home.
