June 10 Birthday!!!!

Who can think of a better gift in the world than to ride on scooters down the Promenade in Tel Aviv? Brandon and Colin spent hours riding scooters today. They absolutely loved seeing the city. Just when we thought they were done they chose to ride to dinner as Todd, Dad and I took a taxi  then when we walked home they rode home and had ice cream again all before we made it home.

An artist market here is similar to an artist market anywhere with the exception of the art itself. The Nachalat Binyamin market was filled with puppets, wooden carvings, beautiful jewelry, and paintings. The paintings ranged from religious to landscapes.

The Carmel Market offered more shawarma, Rugelach, fruit juices and Halava. It was a sight to see! The market was busy and full of flavors from all over and the beautiful colors fresh fruits and vegetables only rivaled the colors of spices and dried fruits.

The Tel Aviv beach was bustling. Row after row of bright umbrellas dotted the beach the promenade behind was filled with people on scooters and bikes moving about. We just happened to run into David, Jessica, Jackson and Lily. It was wonderful embracing Jackson after so many months of him being here in Israel studying.

When at the beach you must eat fish! And fish we ate! We had a special birthday dinner for Brandon and Colin at Old Man and the Sea.  Little did I know when I made the reservation that there were 2 locations. One on the harbor and one a little further in town. Our reservation was in town. The Kraitzicks, Glenn and the boys all went to the harbor location.  The patrons at each location were very different. At the harbor more tourists and Jews dotted the restaurant. Where as Arab Muslims filled the other… then we were there too.

The restaurant began by serving 25 different salads, Laffa, falafel, and lemonade. Colin and Brandon were in their element with crab legs for dinner.

Today was an exhilarating day in a bustling city.
